Rite-Aid has a genius idea for keeping transients out of the doorways of their stores around the country. The new corporate strategy? Rite-Aid is playing the music of Barry Manilow all day long so that homeless people will not want to enter.

As a Barry fan, Dori was skeptical, wondering if perhaps the sweeping piano of “Mandy” wouldn’t be more likely to attract people to Rite-Aid’s doors. However, he approved of the idea overall and now wants to take it a step further — by suggesting that the Seattle City Council support this to rid the city of homeless drug addicts.

The city could blare annoying music loudly from lampposts to drive the addicts away from the city. It would have to be something that people walking to and from work could stomach for a few minutes, but that would drive someone living on the streets 24/7 crazy.

What should go on the city’s playlist? Leave your comments below or send Dori an email.
