KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson had the pleasure of interviewing Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll at a Town Hall Wednesday night.

Dori wanted to know more about Carroll’s plan to turn around his career after the Jets/Patriots days. He asked about the influence legendary coach John Wooden had on his life.

“I needed to get my act together,” Carroll said. “I wasn’t doing very well after getting fired all those times. I had a lot of work to do.”

Carroll told Dori that growing up in California, he was well aware of the impact Wooden had in basketball. He got a hold of one of Wooden’s books shortly after being fired from New England.

“Once he figured out his plan and once he knew what was important to him and he knew how to best represent, I think, the core of his being and his coaching, nobody could touch him … That’s where really, the plan kicked into high gear. A lot of things came to me at that time. I went to work feverishly to try to put together everything that was important to me in coaching and around my coaching. From there, the philosophy just unveiled itself right before my eyes.”

Dori is inspired by Carroll’s passion and focus. He has no doubt the Seahawks are set to win it all again this year.
