Prepare for a commute change on Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail

Dec 23, 2019, 5:46 PM | Updated: Dec 24, 2019, 8:08 am

Beginning January 4, Link light rail will be reduced for ten weeks of construction as the Connect 2020 project builds tracks to connect Seattle to the Eastside. So riders that come up from the south and down from the north will be able to get across the lake.

Crews will be working extensively to also shift the existing tracks and update the signal system. As a result trains will run at a reduced frequency of every 12 minutes, which is expected to have a heavy impact on the 80,000 daily light rail riders.

To get a sense of what this all means for riders, check out the above video from KIRO Radio’s Tracy Taylor.

E-buses can replace light rail for 20 percent of the construction time and cost
