Shower thoughts: $1,671 for Beyonce tickets?

It’s Wednesday — there’s been a bunch of random thoughts bouncing around in my noggin. I need to get them out. I call them Shower Thoughts.

Summer time

Can we still call this an Indian Summer or is that now not allowed? Is it something like Summer Bonus Time now or maybe Pre-Autumn? Can the PC Police text me at 98973 and let me know? Whatever it’s called, it’s my absolutely favorite time of year.

RELATED: Why Ron hates, then loves daylight saving time

Followed by my least favorite day of the year. The day we have to set our clocks back. It’s November 4th at 2 a.m. by the way. So we have that to look forward to. Hello darkness my old friend.

Worst to the first, to the worst

Seems like only yesterday you had the Seahawks and the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Now both teams sit at 1-2. That’s the way the NFL likes it. Worst to first and first to worst is the rule and not the exception. Speaking of the NFL, can someone explain how to tackle a quarterback without putting any body weight on him? This new ‘roughing the passer rule’ is totally bonkers.

I can honestly say that I was not in the Keg Club back in High School, and I do not have a copy of my calendar from my junior year.

Amazon raise

This radio gig is a salary job, not an hourly job. I need to ask if a 25-cent raise by Amazon for its lowest paid hourly workers is welcomed or seen as a backhanded move? I’m sure nobody will turn away more money, but I did the math and it works out to an extra $10 a week pre-tax. Is that going to move the needle for anyone?

Wildlife bridge

I am excited to see the new $6.2 million dollar wildlife bridge finished over I-90. I’m sure there will be a bunch of people belly aching about affordable housing. “You could have used that money to do blah blah blah…” But in my mind this is a good thing. We’ve been steadily encroaching on wildlife, and it’s seriously the least we can do to assist the animals from getting run over by a semi-truck.

Drain the swamp

Watching this Supreme Court nomination drama reminds me why I despise politics. It’s as swampy as ever right now.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z show

I just looked up ticket prices for the Beyoncé and Jay-Z show next week. Care to take a guess at the highest listed ticket price? If you guessed $1,671, the you’re correct. And you’re probably also a psychic.

I guess they have to pay their $200,000 monthly mortgage somehow. For real, there was just a Wall Street Journal article on how they configure their mortgage on one of their properties. The monthly payment is a little over $200K a month. At over $1,600 a ticket, I hope you get to be a backup dancer for a few songs. The Bey Hive is crazy.

That’s it, time to dry off and power up Scooty McScootface – or was it Hardly-A-Davidson?

“What Are We Talking About Here” can be heard every weekday at 4:50 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. on the Ron & Don Show on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM.
