shower thoughts...

It’s my first Wednesday back from Nicaragua, time for some shower thoughts.

RELATED: Thoughts on the act of doing

Whoever invented the home water heater, you’re the best. Our lodging in Central America had hot water about half the time. Not like they would run out of hot water half the time. More like half the places we stayed at had only one knob to turn in the shower stall — and it was cold.

Duty free from hassle

Can someone explain Duty Free to me? I thought it was a system the airports agreed on to enable passengers to get products back home from their travels with little hassle.

I bought some amazing rum in the Duty Free store. They go through this elaborate check out ritual where the items are placed in a sealed bag with the receipt placed just so. Then the sealed bag goes in a box, and the clerk tells you you’re all set.

Then once I get into the US, the customs agents treated me like I was a threat to national security. I was pulled out of the customs line, sent to the basement where they don latex gloves and take everything out of your bag. After a thorough questioning, they made to re-check everything into a different bag. What’s the point? I almost missed my flight. Come on Duty Free!

One thing in common with Central America

One thing we have in common with the people of Central America is a love for baseball. I like baseball, but I’m not an expert in it. Just how excited should I get about the Mariners this season? I went to a bunch of games last year, and I had fun. Call me shallow, but I want them to win! Is it too much to expect the playoff drought to be over?

Bikes

Do we have enough bikeshare bicycles on the streets yet?

Son of Willie Nelson

Did you know that Willie Nelson has a son that sings and plays guitar? His name is Lukas. Check it out below.

All right, time to dry off till next time.

You can hear “What are we talking about here?” everyday at 4:45 p.m. on 97.3 FM.
