I went to the gym the other day and as I was pulling into the parking lot, I saw a red Tesla that I have seen parked there many times before. But the new thing
I noticed was that it had now a bumper sticker on the rear bumper. It read “Reject Corporate Welfare, Vote Bernie Sanders.”

On the back of a Tesla! One of the $100K models.

I saw the woman who owned the car in the gym. She knows my face, but doesn’t know I do a talk radio show. So I casually asked her, “Is that your Tesla out there?”

She said yes. Then I mentioned the new bumper sticker that I noticed on the car.

She said “oh no, now we’re going to get political.”

I mentioned to her that, “You do know the car you’re driving out there is filled with corporate welfare?”

Shocked, she said that she had never received any rebate for that car.

I told her that all Tesla’s contain rebates. She walked away from me.

So I went over to my friends at the gym and printed out some articles on the Tesla and the government rebates. I guess I’m an educator and this was a public service. So I left 15 pages of information for her.

I was expecting her to come to me and say she was sorry, that she had no idea that I was right. That she didn’t know there was $11,000 worth of subsidies in this car.

But she didn’t.

However, the next day, when I got to the gym, there was the Tesla. In the same spot. And the bumper sticker was gone.

She came up to me in the gym and said, “I want you to know, I took the bumper sticker off my car, not because I was wrong but because I didn’t want to continue to be attacked. Though I’m not saying you attacked me.”

I asked her if she read any of the notes I left her.
She said she read a few. And then she turned and walked away.

Maybe I should leave her an invoice for educating her.
It’s the least I could do.
