The one thing Washington Legislature can agree on: Tampons

These are very divisive times and there isn’t a whole lot we can all agree on. I think we all understand that.

And let’s face it, there are a lot of problems in this state, including the gridlock that stretches throughout the Puget Sound region and the budget mess. Is there anything that everybody in a legislative race can agree on?

Well, if you’re among the six Democrats running for the Washington state legislature’s 43rd District, there is one thing: Tampons.

According to Capitol Hill Seattle, which covered a debate among the six candidates, there were few notable differences between them on the issues. But there was one issue, tampons, that had high uniformity with all but one of the candidates.

Most candidates believe we should repeal the sales tax on tampons and other feminine products in Washington state. The “outlier” candidate wants the sales tax reduced on tampons.

They say that since this is an essential product for females that it is a gender-biased tax. And so, as you’re sitting in traffic today and you’re paying more taxes than ever before, there is at least one legislative district that will work to solve a problem that all of us care so passionately about.
