US 2 blocked in both directions near Monroe after multi-vehicle collision

An early morning headache for drivers in Snohomish County. WSDOT says all lanes of US 2 are blocked in both directions near Monroe after a collision involving multiple vehicles. The incident was first reported at 5 a.m. Tuesday, just west of Frylands Blvd. Eastbound US 2 is closed at Roosevelt Rd. There is no estimated timeline on when the highway will reopen. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes. WSDOT tells KIRO Newsradio one vehicle overturned, and two people were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is unclear at this time.
