Wing Woo on the road to recovery, but more help is needed

It’s been nearly a month since King County Sheriff’s Sergeant Wing Woo was injured in Hawaii. Since then, the King County community came together to raise money for transportation and medical costs. But the costs continue to climb higher and the Woo family is reaching out again.

Woo’s GoFundMe page has a financial goal set for $250,000. As of this posting, they have raised more than $140,000. Locals and law enforcement supporters continue to give daily.

The latest update on Woo explains:

The medical bills will continue to mount as he fights to recover. There will be countless months of ongoing therapy and expensive equipment will be required. Every donation will assist Sgt. Woo and his family in providing for his care.

The sergeant has made significant progress toward his recovery. The latest update from his family, via the Wing Woo GoFundMe page, notes that Woo is able to move more and more as his therapy continues.

As you will remember, initially Sgt. Woo was only able to move a toe on one foot. There was significant swelling on the spine and surgery was needed to relieve some of the pressure in hopes that it would aid in his recovery. Thankfully there has been some progress in his mobility. Yesterday, Wing was able to fully extend his right leg from the knee while sitting in his wheelchair. He was also able to grasp with one hand. These are both positive signs for his overall recovery.
