Dad pleas for changes to WSU dorm windows after son’s tragic fall

Aug 30, 2017, 4:18 PM | Updated: Aug 31, 2017, 3:20 pm

Jim Gray’s son, Matthew, is on life support at Harborview Medical Center after falling out of an open dorm window at Washington State University.

Gray says his son was drinking, but he believes there are things WSU can do to make it safer for students.

“Not only did they have unsafe windows, but they made it easy for kids to fall out of those windows by putting a seat right at the window,” Gray told KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson Show. “I have no idea what happened but I have the picture in my mind.”

Family and friends have started a petition online to put into place safety measures on the WSU campus. So far, over 10K people have signed the change.org petition called “Support for Increased Window Protection on WSU Campus.”
