A meeting called by Seattle police to answer questions about remote-control aerial cameras was disrupted Thursday night by demonstrators chanting “No drones! No drones.”

Police said they wanted to have a respectable conversation but arguments broke out and many people left.

The Seattle Police Department is one of only 50 departments in the country that has been given permission from the federal government to use the drones.

The department planned the Thursday event at the Garfield Community Center to give the public a chance to see the new technology, give comment and ask questions.

SPD released a draft of their proposed policies regarding use of drones in the city on Wednesday.

Seattle police say the unmanned drones will be used to get aerial views of accidents, natural disasters, and crime scenes.

The department says measures will be taken to protect residents’ privacy and they will not be doing any random surveillance.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
