The King County Medical Examiner’s Office says actress Misty Upham, whose body was found in a ravine near the White River in October, died of blunt force trauma.
Upham, 32, was known for her roles in “August: Osage County,” “Frozen River” and “Django Unchained.”
Auburn police spokesman Steve Stocker said there was no evidence of foul play and it appears the death was accidental, but we may never know what really happened.
Upham was reported missing by her family Oct. 5 after walking away from her sister’s apartment near the Muckleshoot reservation.
Her family launched a search effort and discovered her body in the area nearly two weeks later.
Upham’s disappearance received national attention, with some media outlets reporting that her father was worried his daughter committed suicide. But he told KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson that wasn’t the case.
“She has said suicidal things in the past but never followed through,” he said. “She doesn’t believe in killing herself. She believes that is a sin and she would never do that.”
Misty Upham had moved to the Seattle area to help care for her father, who was recovering from a stroke.
