Forecasters predict a warmer, drier spring.

The National Weather Service’s seasonal outlook showed an increase of warmer than average temperatures all the way into next winter.

“It continued with the much greater odds of warmer temperatures throughout the West and that includes all of Washington, but particularly western Washington,” explained NWS hydrologist Brent Bower.

While El Nino finally arrived in February, forecasters say it’s too weak and too late in the rainy season to provide much relief for areas dealing with drought.

Bower said that dry summer weather could start as early as next month, which means western Washington will likely experience drought.
