Woman marries Seattle building under demolitionon January 30, 2012 @ 8:47 am (Updated: 8:54 am - 1/30/12 )
Babylonia Aivaz tied the knot with the 10th and Union Warehouse in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, which is already in the process of being demolished to make way for a new apartment building.
"Yes, I'm in love with a 107 year old building!," wrote Aivaz on the wedding invite page on Facebook.
Aivaz writes that her relationship with the building began when she and a group of around 200 occupied the warehouse claiming it as a community space.
According to the SeattlePI.com, a couple protestors attended the Sunday afternoon event holding signs "Marriage is between 2 people" and "It's not a gay union." Aivaz has called the marriage a same-sex union because the building is female.
The latest estimate says the Seattle tunnel project won't be done until August 2017
