Is there any fast food restaurant that you could eat for a year straight?
The closest KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson ever came was visiting Ezell’s Famous Chicken about three times a week, but Bellevue resident Devin Cunningham has him way beat – more than 315 consecutive days into eating at Chipotle every day for 366 days.
Cunningham, 25, told Dori that, while he loves Chipotle, there is also a method to his madness.
“I’m trying to prove that you can really eat whatever you want and live a healthy and fit lifestyle,” he said. “A lot of people want to go on these low-carb, low-fat diets but won’t stick to them because they are not eating the foods they like. They’ll be eating plain rice and plain chicken every day and they won’t last on that at all. I’m trying to prove that you can really eat whatever you want; just do it in moderation.”
Cunningham, who says he has about eight percent body fat, has gone to great lengths to continue his epic eating journey. That includes driving to Canada twice when Washington and Oregon’s Chipotle restaurants shut down earlier this year from an E. coli scare.
Dori was impressed with the feat but isn’t convinced it’s a true diet plan.
“When I was 25 I could eat four cheeseburgers, a large shake and large fries every day and I think I weighed about 145 pounds,” he said. “So I don’t know if you’re going to be able to do this forever … But what the heck, if you like Chipotle, who cares?”
