Weekend traffic: Graduations and Father’s Day events

Plan on the inevitable weekend traffic for graduations and Father’s Day events. Expect high school graduation backups around the Tacoma Dome and festival traffic in Fremont, Issaquah, and Tacoma. Not to mention construction closures.

FRIDAY

• Tacoma – Festival of Sail Tacoma along the Thea Foss Waterway

SATURDAY

• Fremont Solstice (Seattle)
• Marysville Strawberry Festival
• KidzBop – White River Amphitheater
• Tacoma – Festival of Sail Tacoma along the Thea Foss Waterway

SUNDAY

• Seattle Rock n’ Roll Marathon – The course starts at Husky Stadium, goes to Genesee Park, and on to Century Link Field. You’ll also see runners on the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Runners start at 6:30 a.m.
• Fremont Solstice (Seattle)
• Tacoma – Festival of Sail Tacoma along the Thea Foss Waterway.

Weekend Traffic: CONSTRUCTION

SeaTac
• I-5 NB reduced to two lanes for a pavement project in Tukwila from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Monday. Highway 518 to Sea-Tac Airport will be open but check on the backup before you head out so you don’t miss your plane.

Issaquah
•East Sammamish Parkway is mostly closed off I-90, this will reopen Monday morning but I-90 eastbound drivers have seen long delays. You’ll also see backups from the Fenders on Front Street car show on Sunday at 8 a.m.
