‘Big’ sinkhole spotted on Renton road

Feb 7, 2018, 10:23 AM | Updated: 4:05 pm

The Renton Police Department says a “big” sinkhole has developed in the 900 block of Rainier Avenue North.

It looks small, but the “hole underneath is very large,” the police department tweeted.

The hole itself is about 15 feet deep. It stretches across the northbound lanes of Rainier Avenue North.

“The hole does look small, but under the road you could easily fit 1 or 2 cars in it,” the police department wrote.

By Wednesday afternoon, the police department tweeted a new photo of the sinkhole after it had grown. Rainier Avenue remained closed over Wednesday, and was only open to local access. Officials said that the road could reopen on Thursday.
