Jenny Durkan declared after the Father’s Day attack on the father and daughter that Seattle is a safe place. How in the world do you dismiss this as an isolated incident? A pharmacist convention group sent a letter pleading with the city to clean up the streets after their employees were afraid to walk the sidewalks of Seattle. Tourists going to the Space Needle were attacked by a homeless guy who tried to strangle the dad with a rope. A woman taking her car for an oil change on a Monday morning in Ballard was raped in the bathroom of the dealership.

Jenny, do you walk the streets of your city and feel safe? Violent assaults are up 10 percent in Seattle. We’re the number-one city for property crime among the 20 biggest cities in America.

And what is she doing instead of focusing on that? She’s off to the Texas/Mexico border to protest a policy that is now over. Donald Trump just signed an executive order stopping the family separation. What in the world, Jenny Durkan, are you doing flying down to Texas to protest something that is not even happening anymore? What an absolute waste of money with your Seattle police security.

And she keeps saying, “That is not who we are,” with her fake sincerity.

People are using children as bargaining chips, but not as Jenny Durkan described. These are the child traffickers who brought kids across the border claiming that they were the kids’ parents, then turned the kids over to traffickers to turn the kids into slave labor. This was all happening under the Obama administration.

Furthermore, Jenny Durkan herself uses children as bargaining chips. She is using Washington students to pass her $620 million education levy. We’ve got to vote for this levy “for the children.” But if anybody else uses children as a bargaining chip, that would be horrible.

The media is making a big deal out of the fact that Jenny Durkan is going to pay for her flight and hotel herself. Yes, but I also know that when mayors travel, they get a Seattle police security detail with them, and taxpayers pay for that.

Seattle has just gone down the sewer. And Jenny is going to Texas to fight a federal policy? Just run the city, Jenny. Take care of the rampant crime, the drug use, the assaults, the homelessness. Why can’t you just do that? Run the city. There are plenty of Democrats in Congress trying to help the president run the country. And he has just signed the executive order ending family separation, so your trip is now pointless anyway.
