In case you missed it, Fox’s town hall with Bernie Sanders got the most viewers of any town hall in the campaign so far, including Fox’s Viewer-in-Chief.

Sanders defended his socialist ideas and was asked, “if he hates the Trump tax cuts, why not voluntarily pay the old tax rate on his book royalties?”
Sanders just blew off the question… literally.
“Pfft!” he responded. “Come on. I paid the taxes that I owe. And by the way, why don’t you get Donald Trump up here and ask him how much he pays in taxes?”
Trump was watching, later Tweeting, “Bernie Sanders and wife should pay the PRE-Trump Taxes on their almost $600,000 in income.”
That was a Tweet I found shocking, because it showed the President actually acknowledging that a candidate’s tax returns are an important part of the political debate.
At the same time, Sanders defense of his book deal windfall was also an acknowledgement, that in his version of socialism, it’s OK to be rich. That makes sense, because taxing rich people only works if you have some.
Even socialist France has billionaires, and overnight they pledged to help rebuild Notre Dame.
Anyway, Sanders survived Fox, and based on the ratings, Fox survived him.
“And I hope I wasn’t too hard on you,” Sanders said in closing.
