Hillary Clinton gets Bernie Sanders to buy into her campaign on Amazon Prime Day

It may not be a coincidence that Bernie Sanders endorsed Hillary Clinton on Amazon Prime Day.
Just like any other transaction, the offer has to be tempting enough before people finally buy. And it took several deals before Sen. Sanders bought into Clinton’s campaign.
As opponents, Clinton accused Sanders of “arm waving and hot rhetoric.” Sanders said Clinton wasn’t qualified to become president and blasted her campaign for taking millions from bankers and Wall Street investors.

Suddenly, all that changed on Tuesday. As people were scrambling across the digital landscape to purchase the latest deals from Amazon, Sanders was hitting the checkout button on his campaign and endorsing someone he considered a political enemy.
“Hillary Clinton will make an outstanding president and I am proud to stand with her today,” Sanders said during what the New York Times called an “uninspiring endorsement.”
Before endorsing Clinton, Sanders made sure to tout all the things his campaign made him proud of. Sanders, the Times points out, avoided topics such as war and foreign affairs during his endorsement. After all, he and Clinton disagree “violently,” The Times reports.
And just how tempting of a deal did Clinton have to make before Sanders bought into the campaign? Sanders withheld support until the Democratic platform reflected his positions on the death penalty, environment, minimum wage and college plan.
Of course, Donald Trump immediately blasted Sanders for the endorsement via Twitter.

But “fans” of Sanders might not be as upset as Trump makes them out to be. One supporter sounded as if he might be coming around.
“She’s on the right track,” he said. “I don’t think Hillary Clinton would have embraced those policies without Sen. Sanders in the race.”
Might was the keyword there.
