Update 1:20 p.m.:

I-90 has closed fully with more crashes and spinout in the passes, with westbound I-90 likely to be opened around 2 p.m. and no estimated time for when westbound will be reopened.

The crash at I-5 has been cleared around 11 a.m. and traffic is now moving slowly in the snow.

After a crash on eastbound Interstate 90, the Washington State Department of Transportation has closed the highway starting at North Bend as snow continues to fall overnight and into Wednesday morning.

The road had to be closed because, according to WSDOT, there have been “multiple spinouts and collisions” on the road as driving conditions worsened.

School districts across the sound cancel, delay class, with more snow on the way

While the eastbound remains closed, chains are required westbound on Wednesday.

The closure started at about 5:45 a.m.

A winter storm warning has been issued for the region as multiple schools closed or delayed starting the day. Total snow accumulation is expected to be about one to two feet in the high elevations and six to 12 inches of snow is expected in the valleys. Winds will be gusting as high as 50 mph.

The forecast for Thursday shows that there could be snow starting out the day but will transition to rain showers as the day goes on.

Interstate 5 headed south is also closed starting at N Lake Sammamish Drive, which Washington State Patrol announced Wednesday morning around 5:30 a.m.

The left lane northbound is blocked due to a semi-truck that rolled over, causing traffic to be diverted off the highway to get around.

Currently, there is no timeline for when either road will be reopened.

Before you head over the mountains, make sure to check pass conditions as closures are possible, and chains may be required at times.
