If only the Republican Party had requested Trump’s outtakes early on

A listener asked me why I spend so much time discussing what Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has done, over what Hillary Clinton did to the victims of her husband’s actual advances, which is arguably a lot worse than Trump’s mere words.
I’ll try to explain.
The Clinton scandals go back 25 years. Countless investigations, hearings, an impeachment. There are at least 17 current anti-Clinton books and even videos depicting the Clintons as serial killers!
Whereas Donald Trump was essentially wearing a media-proof vest –- at least until David Fahrenthold of The Washington Post revealed the video of Trump describing how he treats women and using language that can’t be published here.

I was at the rally in New Hampshire back in February when Trump used similar language to describe Ted Cruz.
But the Republican party didn’t care what he said, or who he disrespected, or that he wouldn’t release his taxes. In fact, it wasn’t until last Sunday that most of the leadership finally figured out that there is no presidential version of Donald Trump.
And last night, on CNN, the head of the Baptist Theological Seminary, told Christian evangelicals this:
“Evangelicals are not going to support Hillary Clinton, but when it comes to Donald Trump, is it worth destroying our moral credibility to support someone when we know that person not only sounds like what he presents as a playboy but as a sexual predator?”
If the party had just demanded a few of Trump’s outtakes from his time in Hollywood at the beginning of the race, Rick Perry might right now be cruising to victory.
