Trump and Romney dining together? Now we can put away the guns

During the campaign, there were complaints from parents about what a horrible example Donald Trump was setting for our children. Hillary Clinton ran that ad with the innocent child watching Trump’s hysterics on TV and presumably getting his little brain scrambled forever.
And yet, had that child turned on CNN last night, what would he have seen? A snapshot of Donald Trump and Mitt Romney peacefully enjoying a meal together. This was chaperoned by Reince Priebus, and witnessed by CNN’s Jim Acosta, who managed to book a table 20 feet away, and quickly hopped on the cellphone.

“Trump started out the conversation, talked for just five minutes or so, and then Mitt Romney chimed right in,” Acosta reported.
These two men were engaged in a shameless display of sportsmanlike conduct.
In case you forgot how toxic their behavior once was, here are a few comments the two made during the campaign:
Romney: “Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud.”
Trump: “Mitt was a disaster as a candidate.”
Romney: “He’s playing members of the American public for suckers.”
Trump: “Romney let us all down, he was a very poor campaigner.”
Back during the campaign, they were like two shopaholics fighting over a parking space. And yet, last night, it is “warm” and there was “no animosity,” Acosta said.
America — if these two men can find it within themselves to come together and break bread in peace — it may well mean that mankind has finally evolved. I think we can safely put the guns away.
