Licton Springs gas leak draws firefighters, hazmat team

Dec 10, 2018, 10:46 AM | Updated: 12:24 pm

Crews evacuated buildings around Licton Springs Park in North Seattle after a natural gas leak.

The gas lines have been shut off in the area, and Puget Sound Energy crews are working on a fix.

A 2-inch gas line on Ashworth Avenue North was the problem. Firefighters at the scene with utility and hazmat crews assessed safety impacts. Two buildings were checked which had safe readings. Both were unoccupied.

By 11:38 a.m. Puget Sound Energy has shut off the gas line and was inspecting the system.

The fire department warned that the incident would cause traffic delays in the immediate area.
