Meet John Carter, the world’s most daring nonagenarian

Feb 1, 2019, 11:55 AM | Updated: 2:30 pm

When it comes to the outdoors, John Carter is more fearless than people 75 years his junior.

The 91-year-old grandfather gives meaning to the words “carpe diem.” He takes part in just about every sport imaginable, from baseball to biking to hiking, lifting weights, and even doing flips off diving boards.

His home in Trail, British Columbia, a town near the Canadian Rockies, offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Carter calls himself the “most extreme grandpa on the planet” on YouTube, where he has gone viral. He gets recognized on the street, and even receives letters from inspired students.

He still has a sharp sense of humor, joking with KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson about how he “like[s] to be popular” and, some days, still can’t believe he is 91.

When he’s not out being an athlete, Carter is active in his church and sings in a choir that performs for senior centers.

Take a look at Carter’s video above and share your reaction below.
