Driver killed in Seattle collision with train

One man is dead after a collision with a train Friday evening in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood.

The crash happened at S Holgate St. and 3rd Ave. S.

Witnesses told Seattle Police the victim drove around a lineup of cars stopped for the railroad crossing arms and light, according to Det. Drew Fowler. The victim reportedly drove into the oncoming lanes and was crossing the tracks when a northbound train his the car.

Firefighters had to cut the roof off the car to reach the victim, who was dead at the scene, Lt. Sue Stengel says.
