Right after the Senate voted to acquit Wednesday, the President retweeted a 2018 cover from Time Magazine about Trumpism lasting forever, accompanied by Edvard Grieg’s terrifying theme from “The Hall of the Mountain King.”

Ross: Impeachment about more than what Trump deserves

“King” – get it?

So, impeachment has indeed taught President Trump a lesson: That he is now untouchable.

But before Don Jr. measures the drapes, impeachment also accomplished something else.

“My faith is at the heart of who I am,” stated Senator Mitt Romney.

An eruption of conscience! Romney said his faith in God and obedience to his oath, left him no choice but to be the one Republican vote to remove the President.

The Utah Senator said that on policy matters, he usually votes with the President.

“But my promise before God required that I put my personal feelings and political biases aside,” he clarified.

And God would not let him accept the President’s attempt to corrupt an election.

Why your brain doesn’t feel safe around political debates

It’s just one vote, but, being a vote based on faith, it carries the strong implication that despite support for Donald Trump and his progeny among devout Christians, God is torn on whether Trump is perfect.

God appears to think the Senate needs another John McCain.

Perhaps the Almighty saw that Tweet.
