Port of Seattle picks Tacoma native as new CEO

A Tacoma native and former PACCAR executive is the choice to lead the Port of Seattle.
The Port Commission has selected Ted Fick to replace Tay Yoshitani, who joined the Port in 2007 and retires at the end of September. The Port Commission will vote on the appointment in a public session Sept. 11.
Fick started in a family business, Fick Foundry Co., in 1977 and has 25 years experience in manufacturing and transportation organizations. Most recently, he was CEO of Polar Corporation.
“I am honored to join the Port of Seattle, an organization I’ve depended on, worked with and admired throughout my career,” said Fick in a press release from the Port.
Fick has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and advanced degrees from the University of Puget Sound and Stanford.
According to the Port, Fick is married, has two children and is an Ironman triathlete.
Fick will begin work on September 29, 2014.
