Puyallup man charged for 100,000 child porn images

May 15, 2014, 3:11 PM | Updated: 4:39 pm

A Puyallup man faces five counts of child pornography for allegedly viewing more than 100,000 images of children on his computer, Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist announced Thursday.

A tip from Microsoft is being credited with sparking the investigation that led to the arrest of John Graff, 56. According to Lindquist, Microsoft Skydrive discovered an account with potential images of child pornography and reported it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC.) The organization then notified Puyallup police after determining many of the images contained previously identified victims of child pornography and showed young children, many engaged in sexual activity with adults.

“This is a staggering amount,” Lindquist said. “Microsoft deserves kudos for the cybertip that led to this arrest.”

Detectives obtained a search warrant to obtain the defendant’s computer address, subscriber information and the entire contents of his OneDrive account. He was arrested and booked into the Pierce County Jail Wednesday.

Graff made an initial court appearance Thursday afternoon. He’s being held on $500,000 bail.
