WSDOT warns of weekend traffic delays with I-5 lane closures in Seattle

Feb 14, 2014, 9:04 AM | Updated: Feb 15, 2014, 7:51 am

The Washington State Department of Transportation is warning of 60-minute delays heading southbound through downtown Seattle on I-5 this weekend.

WSDOT is squeezing all traffic on southbound I-5 between James Street and South Dearborn Street to one lane as crews working over the weekend to replace four aging expansion joints.

To help with congestion, the I-5 express lanes will operate in the southbound direction from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

WSDOT is encouraging travelers to take alternate routes such as SR 99 or local city streets.

All lanes are scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday.
