Special election: Strong support for school levies, some bond measures failing

Feb 12, 2014, 5:25 AM | Updated: 6:13 am

Most school tax levies are winning in early election returns from the Feb. 11 Special Election in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, while some bond measures are failing.

Bellevue’s $450 million bond is getting strong support although the Lake Washington district’s $755 million bond is, so far, short of the 60 percent needed for approval.

Bond measures are winning in Edmonds and Mukilteo while bonds in the Everett and Lakewood districts are falling short of the 60 percent threshold.

In other elections, with 38 percent of the votes counted, the proposed Klahanie annexation measure has a six-vote difference, 1,168 in favor, 1,162 opposed.

The measure to repeal Issaquah’s ban on plastic grocery bags is failing by 200 votes.
