State troopers clear thousands of pounds of grain by hand from US 101

Some state patrol troopers are going to be pretty sore after they had to clear several hundred bags of grain by hand following a crash Wednesday near Olympia.
A truck carrying 200 80 pound bags of feed overturned on US 101 when a car in the right hand lane made an abrupt lane change and crashed into it as both drove northbound, said Trooper Guy Gill. That car overturned as well.
The collision closed both lanes near Crosby Road.
“We couldn’t get any machinery out there so we said let’s just start loading,” said Gill. “Troopers, Department of Transportation was out there, we had tow truck drivers, anyone that could help, we were loading bags of feed.”
It took about two hours to clear the road. Neither driver was injured. The driver of the car was cited, Gill said.
