Lewis County deputy arrested for DUI

Jan 6, 2014, 1:25 PM | Updated: Jan 7, 2014, 12:43 pm

One of the many drivers stopped for suspected drunk driving over the holidays was a Lewis County sheriff’s deputy.

The sheriff’s office says a state trooper stopped and arrested deputy Christopher P. Fulton, 31, just after midnight on Saturday Jan. 4 while southbound on I-5 in Chehalis.

Fulton was off-duty, driving his own car.

Sheriff Steve Mansfield is conducting an internal investigation. He issued a statement saying he’s “extremely embarrassed, upset and disappointed.”

Fulton was placed on administrative leave, which is standard protocol.

KIRO Radio reporter Tim Haeck contributed to this report.
