14 witnesses report drunk driver before crash in Lakewood

It’s not just the cops who kept an eye out for drunk drivers over the busy New Year’s holiday.

The Washington State Patrol says they received calls from 14 different people about the same drunk driver early Wednesday, just before a driver crashed his SUV in Lakewood.

Witnesses say the Dodge Durango was weaving in and out of traffic, and repeatedly hitting the center barrier, as he barreled north on I-5.

According to The New Tribune, after the 32-year-old Auburn man spun out and wrecked his rig, he tried to run from cops.

He was eventually found in a nearby apartment complex and arrested for suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license.
