Talk about a Christmas blend. The spirit of giving was on full display at Starbucks in one Connecticut town this Christmas season, as a single act of kindness spread to hundreds.
It all started when a customer at the Starbucks offered to “pay it forward” and pick up the tab for the person in line behind him Tuesday morning.
NBC Connecticut reports that in turn sparked the recipient to do the same, and by the time the Newington Starbucks store closed at 8 p.m. Christmas eve, more than 300 customers had kept the chain growing. And it continued through Christmas Day, where the number grew to 420.
There was even $45 in paid-for orders left over, so the spirit of the season was continuing Thursday as well.
“It’s pretty great. You think you’re going to get coffee and you end up doing a little bit more makes you feel good,” Jennie Gillespy said.
