One dead following shootout with police in Tukwila

Dec 9, 2013, 9:00 AM | Updated: 9:07 am

An armed robbery suspect is dead following a shootout with Tukwila Police.

The gun fight happened outside a Cash and Carry on Andover Park East around 7:30 Saturday night.

It followed a 911 call made by a whispering employee, who told dispatchers a masked gunman had taken the manager to the back of the store.

When officers arrived, they surrounded the store and waited.

“As the gunman came out, gunfire ensued,” described Officer Mike Murphy. He says he doesn’t know who shot first, but the gunman was hit and died a short time later.

No one else was injured. All officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
