King County detectives seek help solving White Center murder

Dec 4, 2013, 2:13 PM | Updated: 2:26 pm

King County sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help in finding the shooter who killed a man because he was mistaken for a gang member.

Saul Delfin-Rodriquez says he and his brother, Michael Delfin-Rodriquez, were walking down a street about 2 a.m. on Nov. 27, headed to get a soda, when they were confronted by two men who accused them of being in a rival gang.

As they were walking away, Michael was shot in the back.

“I grabbed him, told him I loved him and to try to relax. He couldn’t breathe at that point,” said Saul Delfin-Rodriquez at a news conference.

King County Sheriff Deputy Charlie Akers said the brothers have no gang ties and the shooting was senseless.

Saul urged the two men to turn themselves in.

“You guys are going to have to pay for it sooner or later. Rather now than let it eat at you the rest of your lives,” he said.

Michael Delfin-Rodriquez died on the street in White Center.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
