A fire in the basement of Swedish Edmonds Hospital forced the evacuation of a number of patients including five newborns, KING 5 reports.
A Swedish spokesperson says the fire started just before 8 p.m. Heavy black smoke poured from the hospital’s subbasement, reaching as far as the hospital’s 9th floor.
No one was injured. Fire and hospital officials were working late Thursday evening to clear the hospital of the smoke. There are no initial reports of a cause or damage estimates.
