Widespread power outage hits northeast Seattle

Nov 8, 2013, 6:30 PM | Updated: 10:37 pm

A widespread power outage hit northeast Seattle late Friday afternoon, leaving thousands in the dark.

Seattle City Light reported as many as 43,000 customers without power in an area stretching from south of the University District to Northgate, east to Lake Washington. But numerous people reported on Twitter power outages beyond City Light’s online outage map.

Seattle City Light says a breaker at substation was to blame for the outage. Crews were hoping to restore power to most customers by 9 p.m.
