Kitten delivery service an overwhelming success

If you’re looking for a sure-fire way to kill productivity, nothing does the job better than some cute kittens.
That point was proven repeatedly Tuesday around Seattle as thousands tried to take advantage of a clever National Cat Day Promotion by car service Uber and Seattle-based I Can Has Cheezburger, which offered up 15 minutes of kitten playtime using the Uber app.
“We were blown away by the reception,” says Uber Seattle General Manager Brooke Steger.
The Uber drivers delivered the kittens for sessions costing $20, and brought along cupcakes to sweeten the get together. All of the proceeds were donated to the Seattle Humane Society.
“It was great. All of the kittens were adopted,” Steger says. In all, she says the effort raised several thousand dollars for the Humane Society.
“We wish it could have been even more, but there weren’t that many kittens available for adoption,” she says.
But hopefully it raised a lot of awareness about the cats and will lead more people to adopt.
