Police search for suspect who beat cop, escaped during arrest

The hunt is on for a suspect who assaulted a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Deputy trying to arrest him on an outstanding warrant Friday morning in Stanwood.
Duane “DJ” Sanders, 29, hit the deputy in the face, ear and hand as the deputy attempted to handcuff him. Sanders fled the scene.
The deputy was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, said Sheri Ireton with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Sanders was last seen wearing a dark fleece jacket and jeans. He is 5’4″ approx. 130lbs. with facial hair and missing his right eye. He has a handcuff on his left wrist. Anyone who sees Sanders is asked to call 911 immediately.
