Edmonds bar likely not latest venture by ‘Anchorman’ Will Ferrell

Despite rumors that comedian Will Ferrell would be buying a bar in Edmonds, it no appears that’s not his latest gig.

Ferrell was spotted over the weekend at Jack Murphy’s bar in downtown Edmonds, and the bar’s Facebook page (which has been turned offline) said Ferrell was indeed the new owner of the popular pub, MyEdmondsNews.com reported.

But after posting the news and a picture of the star known for his stint on Saturday Night Live and such hit films as “Anchorman” and “Old School,” Jack Murphy’s founder Brian Taylor told MyEdmondsNews he planned to formally announce a new owner later this week, but wouldn’t confirm it would be Ferrell.

Taylor and his wife left Edmonds this summer to return to New York City and have said they were looking for a new owner.

The Everett Herald reports Ferrell met up with actress and Edmonds-native Anna Faris for dinner while he was in town over the weekend.

A restaurant owner told the Herald that when some high school kids found out where he was they followed him from Epulo Bistro where he was eating to Jack Murphy’s. He then slipped out the back door.

Ferrell was also seen schmoozing on the sideline with his good friend Pete Carroll on Sunday before the Seahawks game against Tennessee at CenturyLink Field. And star Seattle rapper Macklemore posted a shot on Instagram of the pair in the locker room with the caption “Locker room at the Seahawks game with my step dad Will Ferrell.”
