Die hard Seahawks fans refuse to sell highly-coveted tickets at any price

Ticket prices for Sunday’s highly anticipated showdown between the Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers continue to go through the roof, with some people selling some for thousands of dollars on sites like Stub Hub. But die hard fans say they won’t sell at any price.

“I wouldn’t be able to look myself in the face,” says Michael Simeona of Seattle. He’s shared a pair of season tickets with his dad for the past decade, and even traveled to Detroit for the Seahawks’ lone Super Bowl appearance. “It’s not about the money, it’s about the experience.”

Even standing room only tickets are going for $265 and up. As for a decent seat, tickets in the 100 level of CenturyLink Field are selling for anywhere from $385 up, with one seller asking $5,664.80 for prime seats on the 50 yard line.

It’s clear a lot of ticket holders are cashing in.

“I don’t blame them,” says 710 ESPN Seattle host Dave Grosby. But the Groz says it’s clear many of the people with dollar signs in their eyes are going to be disappointed. “Look at how many tickets are out there. It’s crazy. There are more tickets for sale than I can ever remember.” And that means a lot of hopeful ticket sellers will end up having to lower their prices or get stuck with their seats.

Season ticket holder Jordan Elkins says after sitting through every game of the failed Jim Mora era, “I sure as hell ain’t selling these for $800 each, which is the going rate.”

Still, for even the most devoted of fans, it’s tempting. “I thought about it,” says Seattle PR professional Noah Banning. “$300 a ticket is tempting, but these are games you buy season tickets for. This is why I sat through a 4-12 season.”

Simeona says he hasn’t missed a game in 10 years. And no amount of money would get him to miss what’s arguably one of the biggest game’s in Seahawks history.

“This is history. I have to be there.”
