Two Snohomish County teens missing near Snoqualmie Pass

Search and rescue crews are scouring the Cascades west of Snoqualmie Pass Monday afternoon in search of two Snohomish County teens missing after hiking to the Mason Lake area of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.
The parents of Ricardo Perez, 18, a recent Kamiak High School graduate from Edmonds, and Brian Chim, a 19-year-old University of Washington student from Mukilteo set out early Sunday morning to hike and swim in the Mason Lake area, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Their parents reported them missing when they failed to return home Sunday night.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anybody who was hiking in this area on Sunday, June 30 or Monday, July 1 to call (206) 296-3311 if they saw either of the teens hiking in the area. Both are said to be inexperienced hikers.
Sheriff’s deputies, search and rescue volunteers and King County Sheriff’s Office helicopter are all searching the area.
Officials say the trails are wide and well-used and the trails are highly used. The area is said to be “highly survivable,” but searchers have yet to locate the teens.
Perez was last seen wearing shorts and a light blue jacket. He is about 5 foot 11 inches tall and 185 lbs.
Chim was last seen wearing a purple tee shirt and khaki shorts with a black backpack. He is 5 foot 7 inches tall and about 170 lbs.
