Gig Harbor man arrested for fatal Purdy motorcycle crash

A Gig Harbor man has been arrested after he fatally hit a motorcyclist with his SUV and then fled the scene.

The Washington State Patrol says it happened on State Route 302 near Purdy, Saturday night.

The two vehicles were headed in opposite directions when the the SUV turned left in front of the motorcycle. The biker slammed into it and died at the scene.

Troopers were able to track down and arrest the 43-year-old driver about three and-a-half hours later. The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old Gig Harbor man, has not yet been identified.
