A pothole on northbound I-5 caused significant backups along the main corridor Sunday.

The Washington State Department of Transportation reports the backup was at least four miles by 10:30 a.m. due to multiple lanes being blocked near SR 529 in Marysville.

WSDOT urged drivers to find alternate routes while crews worked on repairs.

The Seattle Times reports the hole was 12 feet by 3 feet and could be 8 inches deep.

Lanes reopened around 1 p.m. after the hole was filled.
