Sunny weather poised for return to Seattle area

It seems like ages since our record setting stretch of sunny skies and warm weather. But the sun is set to make an extended appearance in our area over the next week.
Friday has seen plenty of sunshine with highs in the upper 60’s, and it gets even better as we look ahead to the coming days, says KING 5 meteorologist Rich Marriott.
The weekend forecast calls for a mixed bag of partly sunny skies with increasing clouds and a chance of showers Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning before giving way to more sunshine Sunday afternoon and highs in the upper 60’s.
Mother Nature plays a cruel joke on us by turning up the heat Monday through Wednesday. High pressure is expected to bring us plenty of sunshine and summer-like highs in the mid to upper 70s, with some areas approaching 80.
So far, the longer term forecast calls for increasing clouds and cooler temperatures Thursday and Friday.
