An Everett police spokesman says an Amtrak train traveling along the city’s waterfront hit a pedestrian Tuesday evening, knocking the man into the waters of Possession Sound.
Everett PD spokesman Aaron Snell says the victim and two other people were walking on the tracks as the northbound train approached.
“They were just walking on the tracks, this is an area of town where we do have a lot of residents down around the track area,” says Snell.
Two of the men were able to get out of the way. But the third man was hit.
“The train did strike the third male and his body was thrown into the Sound,” says Snell.
Snell says it took dive teams about an hour to recover the man’s body from the water. The victim was not immediately identified.
Detectives were called to investigate.
