Seattle’s Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have joined the Nature Conservancy’s “All Hands on Earth” movement, encouraging people to do little things to help the planet.
In a new video, Macklemore talks about growing up in Seattle’s parks. “A big part of my upbringing, in terms of making hip hop music, was at parks,” he said. “It’d be Friday night and that’s where you’d end up: at a Seattle park.”
According to Nature.org, Macklemore and Lewis are concerned about “nature deficit disorder.” That’s where adults and kids are so plugged in to electronics that they lose touch with nature.
When he was growing up, he says, “There was not internet, there were no computers. It was like – cops and robbers, capture the flag, let’s use our imagination and kick it outside. I think that’s something that’s unfortunately been kind of lost to this generation.”
