Two Seattle farmers’ markets were ranked in the top 10 in the country after a Holidu study evaluated more than 1,500 markets across the U.S.

Pike Place Market was ranked No. 1 in the U.S. with a perfect 10 out of 10 score, and Ballard Farmers Market trailed close behind at No. 4 with a score of 7.33 out of 10.

The Holidu study considered several factors to determine the top markets in the country, including the average ratings on Google, the number of reviews, and the variety of products available.

Washington was the only state with two markets featured on the list, among other states such as Florida, North Carolina, Arizona, Iowa, Michigan, California, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Nearly 80,000 Google reviews helped push Pike Place Market to No. 1

Pike Place Market earned the No. 1 ranking, as the local market has nearly 80,000 reviews on Google, making it the most-reviewed market in the country.

“The best of Seattle’s artisans showcase their products at the crafts part of the market: from sustainable beauty products to instruments, you’ll find it all at Pike Place Market!” Holidu stated. “And if you’re looking for entertainment, that’s also covered at the market. Comedy shows, improv theater, cooking demonstrations, and much more — there is always something to do!”

Established in 1907, Pike Place is a hybrid market filled with temporary and permanent vendors across the typically crowded nooks and crannies of its multi-story complex near the Seattle waterfront.

Visitors can find everything from fresh seafood and produce sold by Washington farmers to fragrant flowers and unique handmade products.

Pike Place’s year-round schedule means vendors can operate inside covered areas during the winter months, giving visitors access to seasonal items all year.

Pike Place Market is located at 85 Pike Street and is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The market currently has a 4.6 out of 5-star rating on Google reviews.

Ballard Farmers Market cracks the top five

The Ballard Farmers Market landed at No. 4, known for its wide variety of fresh seafood vendors and vibrant atmosphere.

The Ballard market also offers a wide selection of organic vegetables, fresh loaves of bread, and handmade jellies and jams, all from local farmers and businesses.

“Grab something to eat at one of the food booths and enjoy a wonderful breakfast or lunch at the market, with street musicians and performers providing great entertainment for your family,” Holidu stated.

The Ballard Farmers Market also hosts seasonal events, offering produce for Thanksgiving feasts and handmade gifts during the holidays.

The Ballard market is located at 5345 Ballard Avenue N.W. and is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Ballard Farmers Market currently has a 4.8 out of 5-star rating across nearly 2,000 reviews on Google.
